This was an especially anxious December for people in the digital advertising industry, who spent the month preparing for the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). CCPA is a collection of online privacy regulations that went into effect on January 1 and is being called the strictest data privacy law ever passed in the United States. (For this reason, it’s garnered comparison to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a similar online privacy law passed by the European Union in May 2018.)
